This was our team! |
Some of the trails on our hike were gorgeous. |
Some were treacherous! |
And some no longer existed! |
God blessed us with warm, gracious hosts in each village. |
After this bath I felt "as clean as a mountain stream". |
| We started the literacy lesson by singing a familiar Wantoat song in unison. |
Then we recited the Lord's Prayer together in Wantoat. This was the first time most of the participants heard it in their own language. |
In this skit we portrayed a pastor sharing with another church leader that we can communicate with God in any language. |
Part of the lesson included teaching about God's view of people's heart language. |
Next we shared a basic literacy lesson, including a demonstration of how to read long Wantoat words by breaking them into smaller pieces. |
Other team members had a chance to try their hand in teaching the lessons. |
|
The people were very excited about what they were learning. |
The final step was a chance for people to practice reading. First they read a short, humorous story in Wantoat. |
After reading a few verses in unison, people read John 6:1-15, Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand, in small groups.
|
It was a powerful climax to each lesson as we observed people absorbing God's Word. |
Each lesson concluded with fifteen people reading in turn from John 6:1-15. |
